CTOnews.com February 8, the Endless Foundation recently released a stable version of Endless 5.0 update. The new version is based on Debian GNU / Linux 11 "Bullseye", uses the GNOME 41 desktop environment, runs the more secure and private Wayland display protocol by default, and improves the performance of X11.

Because Endless OS is an application-centric operating system, the new version comes with a new application center that no longer requires a hard-coded (hard-coded) list of applications and promises to make it easier to find, download, and install applications to meet your daily computing needs.

More applications in Endless OS 5.0 adopt the Flatpak general installation package format, including File Roller, GNOME Calculator, GNOME Contacts, GNOME Fonts, GNOME Logs, Shotwell and Gedit.

Endless OS 5.0also optimizes support for multiple GPU, and the system UI and most applications now use integrated graphics cards by default to save battery life on laptops. Applications that require GPU, such as video games or 3D graphics software, will automatically switch to a stand-alone GPU.

Endless OS 5.0also supports multi-touch gestures on the touchpad and touchpad for multitasking, while supporting multiple workspaces in the new activity Overview to better organize your work and improve productivity.
