Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com February 9 news, a number of industry analysts said that despite the recent resistance from a number of regulators, they still believe that Microsoft will complete the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
It is worth mentioning that Firth Spencer, the head of Xbox, gave a similar view a few weeks ago, saying he was highly optimistic about the chance of completing a $69 billion deal.
As CTOnews.com reported yesterday, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has just released its interim conclusions on Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, expressing concern that the acquisition could damage industry-wide competition and proposing that call of Duty be removed from the deal.
CMA believes that given Microsoft's huge market prospects, any move to further strengthen its position could be detrimental to "current and future" gamers.
In a subsequent report to investors, Wedbush analysts Michael Pachter and Nick McKay said the remedies proposed by CMA were impractical and believed Microsoft was close to completing its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Of course, the two analysts not only gave CMA's "failed legal argument" against the deal, but also challenged the FTC lawsuit, arguing that it was just a wishful game to get some concessions from the two companies before the deal was approved.
They argued that CMA's proposal was impractical in itself and that FTC had not proposed any legal remedies despite a lawsuit against the deal, and it was clear that "neither of the two regulators could raise a meaningful objection to the deal".
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft's plan to buy Activision Blizzard has been approved by antitrust authorities in Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Brazil and Chile, and Microsoft still insists that the deal will be completed by May 2023. Please wait and see.
