Elon Musk is planning to build hundreds of homes for his employees in Texas. The development, located in Bastrop County, Austin, Texas, is close to the headquarters of Musk's tunneling company, The Boring Company, and is known as Project Amazing.

Bastrop County Commissioner Mel Hamner reportedly said at a conference last month that Lennar Homes, a Florida residential building developer, is working with The Boring Company to build the first 110 homes near its headquarters. Bastrop County documents show that the residential complex contains streets such as Boring Avenue and Cutterhead Crosswalk. It is unclear when construction will begin.

Hamner explained that there is a housing affordability crisis in the area. "That's part of the reason The Boring Company builds housing for their employees so they can afford to live closer to headquarters. "he said. Austin is also home to Tesla's Superfactory. Musk said at the end of 2021 that the plant could eventually employ as many as 20,000 workers. SpaceX is also expected to build a factory in the area.

Matt Holm is an Austin real estate agent and president of the city's Tesla Owners Club. He said Musk's employees needed more homes. Lenner House is advertising 3D printed homes on its website. Holm said the company could use the technology in development projects in Austin.
