Armour Group installs large-scale solar power systems in Japan's Beishang and Yokkaichi plants for the first time

CTOnews.com, February 16 (Xinhua) Kioxia Group has installed large-scale solar power systems in Japan's northward and Yokkaichi factories for the first time to improve the use of renewable energy, according to Kioxia. The new solar power system, installed on the roof of the flash memory manufacturing facility, will be the leading solar power system of all semiconductor factories in Japan.

The solar power system has a total generating capacity of about 7.5 megawatts (MW) and is expected to generate about 7600 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 3200 tons per year.

The solar power system at the Armor northward factory's Fab1 facility has recently started running, and the Fab6 system at Yokkaichi plant will start running in June this year. These power generation systems will be operated and maintained in accordance with the electricity purchase Agreement (PPA) mode (solar power generation equipment belongs to PPA operators. The operator is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the system; the third party that provides the necessary site (in this case, the armor) buys the electricity generated on the site from the operator).

CTOnews.com has learned that Armor has set a goal of 100 per cent use of renewable energy, including solar power, in fiscal year 2040. The Group will continue to actively deal with climate change and is committed to sustainable development.
