Nokia Cloud RAN solution will use servers based on fourth-generation AMD EPYC processors

CTOnews.com AMD and Nokia today announced an expanded collaboration to provide RAN (CTOnews.com) solutions for Nokia Cloud using 4th generation AMD EPYC processor-based servers to help communications service providers meet their demanding energy efficiency goals.

As the demand from communication service providers for 5G core and cloud RAN for the performance and energy efficiency of their 5G networks continues to grow, the telecommunications industry is facing challenges, and achieving energy efficiency targets has become an important part.

AMD also announced new Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC devices for emerging 4G / 5G growth markets that will drive the expansion and deployment of 4G / 5G radios to markets worldwide that require low-cost, low-power, and spectrally efficient radios to meet growing wireless connectivity needs.

At MWC 2023, AMD will work with its technology partners including Amdocs, Groundhog, Juniper and Nokia to showcase the latest systems based on the fourth generation AMD EPYC processor. 5G ecosystem partners including Abside, Astrome, AW2S, CellXica, Comba, Fujitsu, Mavenir, NEC, Solid, Tejas, Ulak, Viettel, VVDN and Zlink will also be showcasing a wide range of radio solutions alongside AMD.

AMD booth is located in Hall 2M61 of MWC Conference and will be held from February 24 to March 2, 2023.
