Amazon expands its same-day delivery service in response to slowing growth
CTOnews.com Feb. 27-Amazon is expanding its ultra-fast same-day delivery service, the Wall Street Journal reported. It also means the company is scaling back plans in other areas while still working to speed up its logistics system.
Amazon is continuing to invest resources in facilities and services to get packages to customers within a day. Amazon faces competition for its fast delivery service and CEO Andy Jassy is refocusing on profits.
A core part of Amazon's ultra-fast delivery strategy is its same-day warehouse network. These facilities represent only a small portion of Yama's warehouse and are designed to be ready for immediate delivery of products. In contrast, larger Amazon warehouses typically rely on delivery stations closer to customers for the final stages of shipping.
Amazon's net sales in the fourth quarter of 2022 were $149.204 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 1.04 trillion yuan), up 9 per cent year-on-year and 12 per cent year-on-year excluding exchange rate changes, according to financial data; net profit was $278 million (currently about 1.935 billion yuan), down 98 per cent year-on-year.
