Huawei releases the industry's first commercial 50G PON, which effectively supports 10Gbps Everywhere

CTOnews.com Note: PON refers to the passive optical fiber network, a kind of optical fiber communication network, which is characterized by the ability to complete signal processing without power supply, just like a mirror at home, which can reflect images without electricity. Except that the terminal equipment needs electricity, the nodes between them are composed of delicate and compact optical fiber components.

Huawei's first commercial 50G PON solution has the following features:

High-density symmetrical 50G PON meets the increasing bandwidth needs of future campus, industrial interconnection, business and home scenarios

Innovative tapered amplifier and superlattice reflection structure increase the optical power budget by about 25%, and support the unchanged deployment of the existing network ODN.

The integration of GPON, 10G PON and 50G PON allows users to upgrade as needed to maximize the protection of operator investment.

Huawei said that as the next-generation PON technology defined by ITU-T, 50G PON effectively supports 10Gbps Everywhere, and Huawei's innovative 50G PON solution provides operators with the best TCO evolution path to upgrade to 10 Gigabit.
