According to Tech Planet, Alipay is developing a "palmprint payment" function, which has accelerated the research and development process since last year and may become a new payment method for Alipay in the future.

According to the report, in addition to the internal research and development of palmprint payment functions, Alipay has also pre-developed a number of palmprint payment prototype devices for offline payment scenarios, where users only need to place their palms in the palmprint recognition area of the device to complete the payment. According to CTOnews.com, Tencent has applied for a number of patents related to palmprint payment, including device appearance, ultrasonic recognition technology and so on.

In October last year, Wechat launched the "Wechat brush palm payment" Mini Program, and started testing in some pilot cities offline.

According to netizens' tests, the device is equipped with a display screen and a palmprint recognition area. After users activate the Wechat palmprint payment function, they only need to scan in the palmprint recognition area to complete the payment of goods.
