Samsung abandons "Galaxy" and relaunches "Samsung" brand in Japan
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Chevsky for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, March 1 (Xinhua) Samsung is reshaping its brand in Japan. Samsung Japan officially announced that from February 28, Samsung will no longer use the "Galaxy Mobile" brand in its online stores, social media accounts and support centers in Japan, but will re-launch the "Samsung" brand.
Samsung's Japanese website, social media accounts, YouTube channel and offline licensing stores will all abandon the "Galaxy" brand and return to the "Samsung" brand.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that Samsung changed its Japanese brand name to use the "Galaxy" brand in 2015. Samsung Japan's social media account and YouTube channel are called "Galaxy Mobile Japan" and the customer center is called "Galaxy Customer Centers".
The change will help Samsung compete against competitors such as Apple in the country. To commemorate the occasion, Samsung's renamed online store offered a special discount for Galaxy Care, and oddly enough, Galaxy Care was not renamed Samsung Care.
