CTOnews.com March 2, Statcounter released the latest report detailing the latest changes in the browser and operating system market. In February 2023, Microsoft Windows 11's PC market share was close to the 20% milestone, and Windows 10 experienced a significant surge.

In February 2023, Windows 11 market share increased by 1.01 percentage points to an all-time high of 19.13%, according to Statcounter. The latest Moment 2 feature update released by Microsoft at the end of February may attract more Windows 10 users to migrate to Windows 11.

The operating system market is large and rarely experiences sudden peaks or major changes. However, February 2023 is an exception. In January 2023, Microsoft ended its technical support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and terminated its extended security update program. This has led more companies to upgrade their computers to Windows 10, increasing their market share from 68.86% in January to 73.25% in February.

Despite the discontinuation of support, Windows 7 remains the third most popular version of Windows. However, it has lost a large number of users, from 9.55% to 5.39%. The market share of Windows 8.1 also fell to 1.15% from 2.28%.
