CTOnews.com, March 2 (Xinhua)-- Neal Mohan, Google's new YouTube chief executive (CEO), spoke to the community for the first time since taking over last month, outlining his main priorities and revealing some of the upcoming features of the media platform. In his letter, Mohan said bluntly that he would "continue to put [creators] first" and reviewed some of the features recently added to the platform. He also revealed a particularly interesting new feature: YouTube is developing a content authoring tool based on generative AI (generative AI).

"creators will be able to expand their stories and improve their production through the generation of AI, from virtual refurbishment to creating a fantasy movie scene," Mohan said. "We are taking the time to develop these features and put in place reasonable protective measures."

CTOnews.com noted that YouTube did not provide details on how these generative AI tools work, but Mohan said they could be expected to be released to creators "in the coming months", with undisclosed safeguards to ensure that the technology is used responsibly.

With the popularity of generative AI models such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and DALL-E, many question the morality and legitimacy behind the technology, with some claiming that the datasets used to train such models may infringe copyright.
