CTOnews.com March 3, International data Corporation (IDC) released a report today that the global smartphone market will ship less than 1.2 billion units in 2023, down 1.1% from the same period last year, while shipments in China are expected to be only 283 million units, down 1.1% from the same period last year.

The report points out that at present, the whole industry hopes that in the second half of this year, with the gradual improvement of the economic environment, the global and Chinese smartphone markets will rebound to a certain extent, which will be significantly higher than in the first half of this year, and the rebound trend will extend to next year to achieve a recovery in the smartphone market.

IDC expects global smartphone market shipments to be 1.263 billion in 2024, up 5.9 per cent from the same period last year, while Chinese smartphone market shipments returned to the 300m market, up 6.2 per cent from the same period last year.

IDC predicts that the online channel share of China's smartphone market will continue to rise to 36% in 2023, continuing the trend of share growth in the future.
