Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, March 4 (Xinhua)-- the Google engineering team is currently developing and promoting Android 14, which is expected to be launched this fall. According to foreign technology media GHacks, Android 14 will open Passkeys features to third-party applications such as 1Password and Bitwarden, and further eliminate traditional passwords.
Passkeys is an emerging standard that replaces passwords with more secure authentication options, which many related companies call password-less schemes. Part of the Passkeys information is stored locally in the hardware, and websites and applications are inaccessible, so it is more secure than traditional passwords.
Google announced the addition of Passkeys support for Android and Chrome last October. However, in current Android, the Passkeys function is limited to Google Password Manager.
Google announced in its latest blog post that this restriction has been lifted in Android 14, allowing third-party applications to use Passkeys as well. CTOnews.com learned from the report that Android users who use password managers such as ashlane, 1Password and Bitwarden can access these passwords through Passkeys on Android 14.
