The first price reduction of Meta Quest VR: a direct drop of $70 for the second generation and a big drop of $500for Pro.
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 5, Mark Zuckerberg himself announced on Instagram: in order to help "more people enter the VR" era, Meta Quest VR Touxian will reduce prices.
"by lowering the price of Meta Quest Pro, we will provide our industry-leading Meta Reality and Infinite Display optical stack technology to more enterprises and professionals around the world."
Starting March 5 local time, the retail price of the Meta Quest Pro will drop from $1499.99 to $999.99, while the 256GB Meta Quest 2 will fall from $499.99 to $429.99.
In addition, the basic 128GB Quest 2 will remain priced at $400, which means you can buy a VR display with double storage space for an extra $30.
It is worth mentioning that although the price of 256GB Quest 2 has been reduced by $70, it is still not cheap compared with the IPO price. CTOnews.com remembers that in August last year, Meta raised the price of the Quest 2 128GB from $300 to $400, and the price of 256GB from $400 to $500.
At the time, Meta insisted that the price increase was "necessary" because "the cost of our manufacturing and shipping products has been rising". It also promised that the additional revenue would be used to increase investment in VR research and development.
It is worth mentioning that the price reduction will not only take effect in the United States, but also in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Taiwan.
