CTOnews.com March 6 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting released a report today that the decline in Enterprise SSD prices widened to 25% in the fourth quarter, affecting total Enterprise SSD revenue of only $3.79 billion in the fourth quarter, down 27.4% from the previous month, and the decline will continue into the first quarter of 2023.

The report pointed out that as Server OEM shipments slowed and the Chinese market generally viewed future demand conservatively and sought to reduce inventories, SSD purchase orders did not recover significantly. At the same time, suppliers' orders for laptops and smartphones fell sharply in the second half of 2022, causing inventories to soar and Enterprise SSD to become the only outlet for suppliers, resulting in a significant imbalance between supply and demand.

Samsung's Enterprise SSD revenue fell to $1.78 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022 (currently about 12.3 billion yuan), but its market share rose to 46.9% as it aggressively negotiated prices to enlarge shipments.

SK Group, mainly affected by the weak market performance and the longer-than-expected introduction schedule of new products, had revenue of $720 million (currently about 4.975 billion yuan) in the fourth quarter of last year, and its market share fell to 19.0%.

Western Digital's revenue grew significantly from the second quarter of 2022 due to PCIe SSD shipments into North American server ODM customers, but also fell to $490 million (currently about 3.386 billion yuan) in the fourth quarter of last year due to a decline in North American purchasing capacity.

Revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 benefited from the advantage of being a major SAS supplier, with a unit price better than the PCIe interface. Even though the order demand for Enterprise SSD was not as expected, the revenue fell only 12.2% month-on-month to $490 million (currently about RMB 3.386 billion).

Micron Enterprise SSD product revenue is still dominated by SATA, limited by the downward revision of corporate capital expenditure in the second half of 2022, revenue fell to $310 million in the fourth quarter (currently about 2.142 billion yuan).
