Microsoft opens AI computer vision model Florence in the form of a public preview
CTOnews.com Microsoft launched Project Florence in 2021, an AI computer vision model that combines universal visual language representations of Web image-text data to easily adapt to a variety of computer vision tasks such as classification, retrieval, object detection, visual question answering (VQA), image description, video retrieval, and motion recognition.
Microsoft announced today that AI computer vision models are open to developers in a public preview. The model has been trained on billions of text images and integrated with Azure Vision Cognition Services to deliver reliable, cost-effective, market-responsive vision applications across industries with a focus on cost.
With Florence, Microsoft customers can more easily digitize data while gaining valuable insights from image and video content. This helps provide accessible content to users, optimizes SEO for higher takeovers, protects users from any potentially harmful content, enhances security, and allows for faster incident response times.
Florence provides user-friendly content discovery through automatic captioning, intelligent cropping, classification, background noise elimination, and image search. More importantly, users can track movement, assess their surroundings, and get instant notifications through ethically compliant AI implementations.
