Curiosity captured a clear "twilight light" on Mars
CTOnews.com, March 9 (Xinhua) Curiosity, which is on a scientific expedition to Mars, captured a very clear "solar ray" (sun rays) earlier this month. This astronomical phenomenon, also known as "crepuscular rays", comes from the Latin word "twilight".
This is the latest photo of Curiosity sent back to the ground during its exploration of Mars, and the images show that the clouds are obviously layered. CTOnews.com learned from the report that these clouds are usually no more than 37 miles (60 kilometers) from the ground.
Curiosity captured black-and-white clouds in a survey launched in 2021, and a new round of investigation began in January and will last until mid-March. This survey mainly uses the Mastcam of Curiosity to take color photos.
Scientists hope that by studying these differences in clouds over the Martian surface in more detail, they can learn more about the atmospheric composition, temperature and wind in the Martian clouds.
