According to reports, the satellite is mainly used for geographic information surveying and mapping, land and resources census, scientific experimental research and other tasks. This mission is the 465th flight of the long March series of carrier rockets, and it is also the "good start" of the long March 4C rocket this year.

According to public data, the two Tianyu-6 satellites are transmission three-dimensional mapping satellites developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
