Cliff Bleszinski, the chief designer of the previous three generations of games: once considered changing "War Machine 4" to a first-person perspective
CTOnews.com Cliff Bleszinski, chief designer of the third-person shooter Gears of War, said in a guest XboxEra podcast on March 11 that he considered changing Gears of War 4 to a first-person perspective before it was acquired by Microsoft.
Asked about his vision for Gears of War 4 before the IP sale, Bleszinski said: "What I can tell you is that I'm really thinking about using a first-person perspective."
He added: "Can you imagine chainsaw Locust in the first person? Bleszinski didn't pursue the topic in subsequent interviews, but it's conceivable that Gears of War 4 would make a huge difference if it changed to a first-person perspective.
Bleszinski also claimed that Microsoft, after taking over the IP, focused on bringing the game back to its horror roots. CTOnews.com Note: Bleszinski worked at Epic for 20 years and was the lead game designer for the first three Gears of War films.
