CTOnews.com March 14 news, CINNO Research released a report today that due to the weakening global demand for display panels, the global market for display driver chips fell by about 9% in 2022 compared with the same period last year.

In terms of the desktop display panel market, global shipments of desktop display panels fell by 8% year on year in 2022. Global desktop display LCD driver chip market shipments fell by about 11% in 2022. CINNO Research expects the decline in global demand for desktop display panels to narrow to 2 per cent in 2023.

CTOnews.com learned from the CINNO Research report that Chinese mainland's share of the global market share for large-size TFT-LCD panel shipments will further increase to about 54% in 2022, and the increasing TFT-LCD production capacity in Chinese mainland will further promote the localization of related display driver chips. Chinese mainland panel makers' share of global shipments of desktop display panels has increased from 48.6 per cent in 2021 to 56.6 per cent in 2022.

In the segment, CINNO Research predicts that the market share of desktop display panels with QHD and above resolutions will increase to more than 20 per cent by 2025.
