American payments company Stripe raised $6.5 billion with a valuation of $50 billion
Beijing time on March 16 morning news, American payment company Stripe has signed a financing agreement, financing amount more than 6.5 billion US dollars (CTOnews.com remarks: currently about 44.72 billion yuan), valuation of about 50 billion US dollars (CTOnews.com remarks: currently about 344 billion yuan). Stripe also raised money in early 2021 at a valuation of $95 billion.
According to Stripe, existing shareholders such as Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, MSD Partners and Thrive Capital are "major investors" in the round, as well as new investors, including Singapore Temasek and Goldman Sachs Asset Wealth Management.
Stripe said the financing will provide liquidity for current and former employees and address employee withholding tax obligations related to equity awards. Stripe emphasizes that the business itself does not require financing.
