CTOnews.com Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series features a variety of health and fitness tracking features, including blood pressure monitoring, ECG ECG, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, SpO2 measurement and stress tracking. However, blood pressure monitoring and ECG are not online in all regions.
Samsung announced that it will activate the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro's blood pressure monitoring and ECG functions in the Philippines. Users can now install the Samsung Health Monitor app on their smartphone and calibrate it using a traditional cuff-based blood pressure monitor. Users can export their blood pressure data to PDF format and share it with healthcare professionals.
Electrocardiogram (ECG) records the periodic electrical activity of the heart through BioActive sensors. Galaxy Watch 5 series can measure ECG using Samsung Health Monitor app installed on companion smartphone. Users must sit comfortably and make sure the smartwatch is securely worn on their wrist. Their forearms must rest on a flat surface and place the fingertips of the other hand on the top buttons of the watch.
The Galaxy Watch 5's ECG function determines heart rate and rhythm, which will be displayed as sinus rhythm (CTOnews.com note: normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (CTOnews.com note: atrial fibrillation, arrhythmia). Users can export this data as PDF to share with doctors and health professionals.
