CTOnews.com March 17 news, AMD Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster reported on the recent EPYC Genoa processor memory support errors, said publicly that the current shipments of the fourth-generation EPYC processors support 2DPC memory configuration, there is no need to redesign.

CTOnews.com Note: the 2DPC memory configuration refers to the installation of 2 dual in-line enclosures (DIMM) per channel for a total of 4 DIMM. The 1DPC memory configuration means that one dual in-line enclosure (DIMM) is installed on each channel, and each channel corresponds to a memory slot.

AMD has partnered with OEM to release BIOS updates and plans to achieve committed support for 2DPC configuration by the end of the first quarter of 2023. AMD says it is further adjusting the memory configuration of 2DPC to provide full support through updates.

The EPYC Genoa processor launched by AMD a few days ago is equipped with several new interfaces and supports 12-channel DDR5 memory. However, during the previous evaluation, the media found that Genoa only supports DDR5 memory under the 1DPC memory configuration.
