Yandex pointed out that there was unfair behavior in the AMD driver: the browser name was changed to chrome.exe, the number of crashes was reduced by 4%, and the memory footprint was reduced by 8%.
CTOnews.com March 18, Russian search giant Yandex recently pointed out in a blog post that AMD graphics drivers are unfairly biased towards Chromium-based browsers.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that when the AMD graphics driver detects a "chrome.exe" file, the number of driver crashes is reduced to 1/5, and the memory footprint is reduced by 8%.
The following figure shows the crash of the process, with the red line indicating the number of crashes after the driver detected the Chrome file.
Yandex developers discovered this problem when investigating Chrome and Edge browsers where page scrolls were largely free of crashes. After the developer renamed the "browser.exe" file to "chrome.exe", the number of crashes decreased significantly.
