On March 23, Logitech spokesman (Nicole Kenyon) revealed in an email that the layoffs mainly affected employees in Switzerland.

The layoffs are in the midst of a wave of layoffs across the technology industry. After the outbreak, revenue from computer peripherals needed for telecommuting plummeted. Logitech's revenue in the third quarter of fiscal 2023 plunged 22% from a year earlier to $1.3 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 8.931 billion yuan).

Bracken Darrell, Logitech's chief executive, said in a January report that the company attributed the decline in revenue to the broader macroeconomic environment and "reduced business and consumer spending". The company also lowered its outlook for this year.

Logitech said in its latest annual report that as of March 2022, the company had 8200 employees. Logitech also hired a new chief financial officer, Charles Boynton, in January.
