CTOnews.com, March 28 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- after Canonical gave up dabbling in the smartphone market, Ubuntu Touch mobile phone system was pushed forward by the community. The UBports team released Ubuntu Touch OTA-1 Focal today, officially transitioning to the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) release.

Ubuntu Touch has previously been based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), and the last update Ubuntu Touch OTA-25 based on this release was released on March 24.

The first batch of adaptable models for CTOnews.com with Ubuntu Touch OTA-1 Focal are as follows:

In addition to the transition to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, the new Ubuntu Touch version also hopes to expand support for operating systems running Android 9 and later.

The new version forks Unity 8 into Lomiri, initializes the system from Upstart to systemd, migrates development code from GitHub to GitLab platform, migrates from Anbox to Waydroid, and adjusts a large number of components based on GCC 12 and Qt 5.15.
