CTOnews.com, March 29, according to a list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple recently obtained a new technology patent. The patent indicates that in the future Apple will be able to abandon traditional aluminum materials and use glass backboards on devices such as iPad and iMac.

Apple's patent mainly involves fused glass designs that can cover displays and other internal electronic device components. A plurality of flat glass components can be fused together to form a five-sided box in which various electronic components can be installed. CTOnews.com learned from the report that opaque masking materials and stained glass can be used to create a partial glass shell structure to hide internal equipment components.

In the FIG 1 example diagram, the electronic device # 10 is equipped with a bracket of # 12 to support the main unit # 14. The main unit includes the screen of # 16 and the glass rear shell of # 18. The device may be a display, a display of an integrated computer, a television or other electronic device.

The iPad of the fused glass backplane is shown in the sample figure of FIG 2.
