EU approves Google's acquisition of Croatian math application PhotoMath, which can be answered by taking a photo.
CTOnews.com March 29 news, the European Commission issued a statement on March 28 local time, EU antitrust regulators unconditionally approved Google to acquire Croatian math application PhotoMath.
The European Commission said in a statement that the deal would not reduce competition in the market for "online homework and learning aids, including math-themed services and general search services."
"Photomath" is a software for mobile phone to take pictures and learn maths. Users who encounter math problems can turn on the photo function of the software to scan and change questions, and the software will analyze the problem. Photomath supports arithmetic, integers, fractions, decimals, roots, algebraic expressions, linear equations, inequalities, unary quadratic equations or inequalities, absolute equations and inequalities, logarithms, trigonometric functions, exponential functions and derivatives and integrals of logarithmic functions.
According to CTOnews.com, Google reached an agreement to buy Photomath in May last year, and investors in the Croatian company include Menlo Ventures, LearnCapital, Goodwater Capital, GSV Ventures and Cherubic.
