Firefox Firefox support for Win7 / Win8.1 will continue until at least the third quarter of 2024
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Coje_He for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 29, Mozilla employee Mike Kaply said in the latest reply that Firefox Firefox's support for Win7, Win8 and Win8.1 will last until at least the third quarter of 2024.
CTOnews.com translated the post as follows: "We will not end support for Windows 7 / Windows 8 until we release Firefox 115 ESR, so support for the above system will continue until at least the third quarter of 2024. We are not sure when to withdraw support for Windows 7 / Windows 8 at this time."
The first version of Firefox 115 ESR will be released on July 4, 2023, followed by a new release every four weeks, with 15 consecutive releases. Firefox 115 ESR will provide 60 weeks of support for Win7 and Win8 until July 2024.
After Microsoft stopped supporting Win7 and Win8.1 in January, browser makers announced to follow suit. Google and Microsoft say the Chrome 109and Edge 109browsers released in January 2023 are the last versions to support both systems.
Mozilla hopes to attract these users and expand its market share by extending Firefox Firefox's support for Win7 and Win8.1.
