April 4 news, according to foreign media reports, electric vehicle startup Rivian released the first quarter of 2023 production and delivery data. In the quarter, the company produced 9395 cars, up 268 per cent from a year earlier, down 7.3 per cent from a month earlier, and delivered 7946 vehicles, up 548 per cent from a year earlier and down 2.4 per cent from a month earlier.

Although Rivian's delivery in the first quarter of 2023 was slightly lower than in the fourth quarter of 2022, it exceeded investors' expectations. This means that the company is expected to meet its target of delivering 50, 000 vehicles by 2023.

Founded in 2009, Rivian is an emerging electric car maker whose investors include Ford, Amazon and Cox Motor Co., and is considered one of the most threatening competitors to Tesla.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the company produced 10020 cars, an increase of 36 percent over the previous month, and delivered 8054 vehicles, an increase of 22.3 percent over the previous quarter. For the whole of 2022, the company produced 24337 vehicles, only 663 fewer than its overall target of 25000 vehicles in 2022, and delivered 20332 vehicles.

Since the third quarter of 2021, Rivian has produced nearly 35000 electric vehicles and delivered more than 29000 electric vehicles.

For all of 2022, the company posted a net loss of $6.752 billion, up from a net loss of $4.688 billion the previous year.

At present, the company has experienced two large-scale layoffs and has taken many cost-cutting measures to help it make a profit as soon as possible.
