Kodi company announcement: forum has been hacked, user data has been leaked
CTOnews.com April 12 news, streaming media entertainment center application manufacturer Kodi issued a security notice last week, saying that the forum system was attacked by hackers, resulting in the disclosure of user data information.
Kodi realized that the team had been hacked after it found that hackers had sold Kodi forum dumps (dump) on the dark web.
CTOnews.com learned from preliminary findings that the attacker first hacked into the administrator account of an inactive but trusted member of the forum and managed to access the administrative console twice. The attack took place in February this year.
An attacker creates and downloads a database backup after gaining privileges from the administrator account. Kodi has currently disabled the relevant accounts to prevent future access to the system.
