The most important feature of Opera One is the introduction of the concept of "tab islands", which is a function that can automatically or manually group tabs according to the content of a web page. For example, when a user opens a web page with multiple menus and restaurant details, Opera One classifies them as one island; when a user opens multiple Google Docs, Opera One classifies them as another island. This makes it easier for users to switch between different tasks, whether it's work or personal affairs.

Opera said it conducted a survey and found that users are often troubled by the number of tabs opened and hope that browsers can do more for them. Tabbed Island is Opera's solution to this problem. Opera also said that tab islands are the first manifestation of its modular design strategy, with clearly discernible island boundaries and color markings, and more similar features are likely to emerge in the future.

In addition to the tab islands, Opera One also enables three AI functions, ChatGPT, ChatSonic, and AI Prompts, by default. CTOnews.com noted that all three features are AI chatbots launched by Opera in March, and Opera One integrates them in the sidebar so that users can quickly open a separate window inside the browser. The AI Prompts function can also convert the text on the web page according to the needs of users, such as turning a piece of text into a soap opera dialogue, or extracting information from the text to generate questions.
