CTOnews.com, April 27, according to the latest report released by market research firm Gartner, total revenue of semiconductors in 2023 is estimated to be $532 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3.69 trillion yuan), down 11.2% from the same period last year.

According to the report, total revenue of semiconductors in 2022 was $599.6 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 4.16 trillion yuan), an increase of only 0.2% year-on-year. This is mainly due to the global economic downturn, consumer demand has dropped significantly, and companies have lost interest in buying electronic products. On the other hand, the backlog of chip inventory has also depressed the price of semiconductors.

COVID-19 's epidemic has pushed telecommuting into the new normal, with PCs, tablets and smartphones accounting for 31 per cent of semiconductor revenue, but growth is sluggish as the global epidemic is brought under control.

In the automotive and industrial and military / civil aerospace semiconductor market, it is expected to reach US $76.9 billion this year, an increase of 13.8 per cent.

One area that has seriously hurt demand for semiconductors is the storage industry. Revenue in the market is expected to fall by 35.5% this year. The problem in this market is that inventories are full and consumer demand is weak.
