CTOnews.com Microsoft has updated its official Windows 11 virtual machines (Windows 11 Development Environment or WDE), which users can download for free evaluation. Microsoft has upgraded its virtual machine to version 2304 and set the expiration date to July 18, 2023.

There are four variants of Windows development environments: VMWare, Hyper-V Gen2, Parallels, and VirtualBox. These virtual machines are pre-built and do not require any additional setup. Once the virtual machine is turned on, users have access to Windows 11 Enterprise SKU, Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition, Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, Ubuntu, and Developer Mode. All of these developer tools are available immediately, with no additional installation required.

Microsoft virtual machines are free during evaluation. After July 18, 2023, the operating system will prompt the user to enter a valid enterprise license key to continue use. The desktop background will turn black and the operating system will shut down once an hour.
