Change to mythical creature name, Ubuntu 23.10 code name finalize Mantic Minotaur
CTOnews.com, April 29, Canonical today finalized the code name for the Ubuntu 23.10 release-Mantic Minotaur. And Canonical began to use creatures that didn't exist at all.
Ubuntu distributions are named after endangered animals such as Pangolin, followed by a modifier adjective.
"Mantic" comes from the Greek words mantikos and mantis, related to divination or prophecy, and translates to the equivalent of "prophet". Among them Minotoros "Minotaur" is a famous half-man and half-ox monster in Greek mythology.
Canonical announced that the Ubuntu 23.10 release will be released on October 12 and the beta version on September 21.
CTOnews.com Note: Ubuntu 23.10 is not a LTS version and the support cycle is only 9 months. For those who are more focused on stability, it's best to stick with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS until the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in April next year.
