CTOnews.com May 12 news that the KDE Project team and TUXEDO Computers held the Plasma 6 sprint event in Germany last week, which will significantly improve the Linux desktop environment.

According to the press release released by the event, Plasma 6 will change the click to open file to double click by default, and the floating panel (Floating Panel) introduced in Plasma 5.25 will be enabled by default.

Developer Nate Graham said on his blog: "in fact, Microsoft openly copied our ideas in Win11. But as a result, many people think that Plasma is a crude clone of Windows."

Another interesting change in Plasma 6 is that it uses Wayland by default. This may make some NVIDIA GPU users, especially gamers, uneasy, but rest assured that KDE developers are trying to resolve all Wayland / NVIDIA issues before Plasma 6 is released with a stable version.

CTOnews.com translates the content of KDE developer Nate Graham as follows: "the real obstacles are reduced to five, in addition to some NVIDIA issues that need further investigation. At present, many problems have clear solutions, so we hope to achieve this goal [use Wayland by default]."
