Google Wear OS 4 watch system improves golf tracking, Health Connect is integrated into Android 14
CTOnews.com, May 15, according to 9to5 Google, Google did not share many details about Wear OS 4 at I / O 2023, and announced a developer preview after introducing some minor adjustments, but one of the new features is to improve health by improving golf movement tracking.
Health Services provides application developers with a simpler and more consistent way to access Wear OS sensor data. Recent updates allow developers to access heart rate data more frequently and "automatically detect golf hits" (on supported Wear OS devices).
In the Wear OS 4 system, supported devices will be able to detect the size of a golf swing (short, putter or full), a forthcoming feature developed in partnership with Samsung that will "allow applications to build seamless automatic tracking and scoring on the golf course" on supported watches.
In addition, the upcoming release will introduce new access to body sensors in the background:
"for example, if your application tracks your heart rate in the background when users are not actively using your application, this new permission will apply. This helps users control their health data and helps you access the data you need to create a valuable experience for them in an efficient and energy-efficient way."
In other respects, Health Connect will no longer be a stand-alone application in Android 14 (CTOnews.com Note: starting with Android 13 QPR2, it is pre-installed on Pixel, otherwise it needs to be downloaded from Play Store). Instead, it "will become the core part of Android", which can be updated and acquired faster and newer through the Google Play system.
As part of the exercise session, the user can grant the application permission to write route data, and then other applications can give the user the option to import route data from Health Connect, and the user can always maintain control and approve or deny each route import.
As part of the Android 14 update, Health Connect will allow you to share exercise maps with other applications and make it easier to record your menstrual cycle.
