Microsoft Edge browser launches a new model for gamers, integrating Discord, Twitch, dark mode and other functions.

CTOnews.com, May 22 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature for its Edge browser for PC gamers, called "Edge for Gamers," which Microsoft quietly added in its latest Canary channel update to Edge's internal testers.

This new feature is located in the appearance option in the Edge settings, which is described as: enhance your experience inside and outside the game through the game home page, player-specific sidebar application, PC game efficiency mode, dark mode, game theme, etc.

When this switch is turned on, Edge's dark mode automatically turns on, and Windows Discord and Twitch applications are automatically loaded in the sidebar. This is a good feature for players who want to chat with other players or quickly broadcast their own PC games, without having to load these apps separately. When enabled, Edge users will also be redirected to the theme section of their add-on store, possibly to allow users to buy and download game-related themes. In addition, another switch will pop up, labeled "improve your PC gaming experience through efficiency mode". When this mode is enabled, the CPU usage of Edge will be reduced, thus providing more CPU performance for the game.

Since the new "Edge for Gamers" switch appears on the Canary channel, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will eventually introduce this feature to all users, and CTOnews.com will keep an eye on it.
