CTOnews.com May 24 news, Corning display Technology announced today that the price of its display substrate glass will increase by 20%. This global price increase will cover all countries and regions, product portfolios and generation sizes from the third quarter of 2023.

Corning said the price adjustment was aimed at offsetting high energy, raw material costs and other non-yen-denominated operating expenses during persistent inflation, which had an impact on many industries around the world, including the display industry. Corning expects demand for display glass to grow in the second half of 2023 as the display industry continues to recover and driven by typical seasonal demand.

According to CTOnews.com, Corning's first-quarter GAAP sales were $3.2 billion (currently about 22.176 billion yuan), with core sales of $3.4 billion. Both GAAP and core sales are down 7 per cent month-on-month. In such a performance situation, price increases can also pull the financial report data.

Corning Gorilla Glass has launched the sixth generation, which is widely used in major brands of mobile phones, tablets and other products. In terms of mobile phone cover glass, Corning said it will continue to improve the performance and large-scale production of cover glass for bendable equipment.
