To help users distinguish between pictures and videos generated by AI, Microsoft will use metadata for tagging
CTOnews.com, May 24 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft announced at today's Build 2023 developer Conference that it is about to develop new ways to help users distinguish which images are generated by AI.
Microsoft says it will distinguish between pictures and videos generated by Bing Image Creator and Microsoft Designer by tagging metadata. CTOnews.com translated blog posts as follows:
The technique uses encryption methods to mark and sign AI-generated content by embedding metadata about the source.
Microsoft has been a leader in the development of certification source methods and has co-founded Project Origin and the content Source and authenticity Alliance (C2PA) standards body. Microsoft's media sources will sign and verify the generated content in accordance with the C2PA standard.
Microsoft said it would mark most of the picture and video formats, but did not disclose which formats it supported. Microsoft also did not disclose a specific launch date, saying only that it would launch the feature in the next few months.
