CTOnews.com, May 24 (Xinhua) according to the latest survey data released by market research firm Canalys, shipments of personal computers (desktops, notebooks and workstations) in China reached 8.9 million, down 24% from a year earlier.

Shipments of desktops (including desktop workstations) and notebooks (including mobile workstations) fell 28 per cent to 2.8 million and 22 per cent to 6.1 million respectively. Tablet shipments bucked the trend, with total shipments rising 38 per cent year-on-year to 6.5 million units.

Lenovo still ranks first among Chinese PC makers, but shipments fell 24 per cent to 3.3 million units in the first quarter of 2023.

Huawei's performance was strong this quarter, with PC shipments rising 34% to nearly 1 million units, ranking second.

In third place, Hewlett-Packard shipments fell less, by 7%, and the manufacturer reiterated its commitment to list China as an important sales and manufacturing market.

Among the top five manufacturers in China, Dell's PC shipments fell the most, by 45%, ranking fourth.

Asustek ranked fifth with shipments of 700000 units.
