CTOnews.com, May 25, according to Bloomberg, Sony said it would buy about 27 hectares (270000 square meters) of land in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, for its chip business, while local media in Kumamoto Prefecture reported that Sony would build its second manufacturing plant in Kumamoto, possibly investing hundreds of billions of yen.

It is reported that this plan aims to accelerate the development of Sony's chip business and meet the growing demand for Sony Semiconductor in the global market.
