CTOnews.com, May 27, at the Build 2023 developer Conference earlier this week, Microsoft Vice President and Chief Product Officer Panos Panay announced that Win11 will natively support compressed files in formats such as tar,7-zip,rar,gz.

Screenshot from the official video of Microsoft developers in the follow-up to Build 2023, Microsoft product manager Sharla Soennichsen confirmed that an Win11 update will be released in September this year, allowing users to directly extract compressed file formats such as tar,7-zip,rar,gz.

She added that Microsoft plans to launch a compression feature in 2024 to create such compressed files without using third-party tools such as WinRAR.
