CTOnews.com, June 1 (Xinhua)-- RARBG, one of the most popular Torrent resource downloads for high-quality movies and TV shows, suddenly shut down today and has been running since 2008. Many factors led to the decision to shut down the site.

Currently, there is only one short message on the RARBG site, and CTOnews.com attached a description of the reason why the site was shut down as follows:

"We would like to inform you that we have decided to shut down the website.

The past two years have been very difficult for us-- some people on the team died of COVID-19 complications.

Others still suffer from its side effects-they can't work at all.

Some people are still fighting in Europe-both sides are at war.

In addition, the rise in electricity prices in European data centers has dealt us a heavy blow.

Inflation makes our daily expenses unaffordable.

Therefore, without the huge out-of-pocket expenses, we will no longer be able to run this website.

After a unanimous vote, we decided to stop.

We are sorry: (

Goodbye. "

Vice reported that according to the website analytics tool Similarweb,RARBG, the site received more than 40 million visitors in April 2023. As early as January 2023, Torrent Freak rated it as the fourth largest Torrent site.

The shutdown was sudden, with hosting and energy costs rising globally, especially in Europe, which led to RARBG's decision, and some other remaining high-end Torrent sites are expected to see some traffic spikes for some time.
