At the same time, he also revealed that NEC is developing its own generative AI service independently.

Morita stressed that the social impact of generative AI is comparable to the emergence of the Internet, and that this technology has a variety of commercial possibilities. He also confirmed that NEC will promote the research and development of generative AI technology for specific business and purposes, and said that at present, many products are learned in an English environment and there will be a lot of errors in Japanese Q & A, while NEC is developing technologies and services that can be safely used in the Japanese environment.

On the other hand, Morita also believes that the pattern of collecting information and creating documents and images on the Internet makes generative AI a copyright risk. So he acknowledges that generative AI is not suitable for use in all cases unless the problem is eradicated.

Since May, NEC has introduced conversational AI service ChatGPT internally to verify the technical and commercial feasibility of generated AI.
