Toyota Announces the opening of a Battery Research and Development Laboratory in the United States: nearly $50 million to open in 2025

CTOnews.com, June 9, Toyota announced yesterday that it will spend nearly $50 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 356 million yuan) to set up a special research and development laboratory for electric vehicle batteries at its North American R & D headquarters in Michigan, which is expected to start operating in 2025.

Previously, Toyota's North American R & D headquarters was mainly used to study traditional fuel engines. The establishment of the new laboratory will enhance Toyota's research and development capabilities in electric vehicles in North America, which Toyota North America calls "an important shift towards electrification."

In North Carolina, the company is building a lithium battery plant to meet the production needs of electric vehicles in North America.
