ITER, known as the International Thermonuclear Experimental reactor (ITER), is jointly built by China, the European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States. it is one of the largest and most far-reaching international scientific research cooperation projects in the world, and China undertakes about 9% of the tasks.

This mega project is currently under construction in the world's largest experimental tokamak fusion reactor, located in Cadalasher in southern France, its mission is to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion power generation.

It is reported that the ITER project is on the verge of a "record disaster". The project is obviously behind schedule and over budget, making it the science project with the longest delay and the most inflated cost in history.

The ITER project was officially launched in 2006, and international partners plan to inject $6.3 billion into the project within a decade (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 44.919 billion yuan), while the latest cost budget has soared to $22 billion (currently about 156.86 billion yuan).
