General Motors CEO hinted that it will launch Chevrolet Bolt electric model based on Ultium platform.

CTOnews.com June 18, General Motors CEO Mary Barra hinted that the entry-level Chevrolet Bolt electric car will return in the near future, its price is lower than the upcoming Equinox EV crossover model, is expected to be less than $30,000 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 214000 yuan).

On NPR's Marketplace podcast, GM executives said she had been driving the Bolt EUV for months and "liked it very much" and that the current Bolt EV and Bolt EUV would retire at the end of the year, starting at $26500 (currently about 189000 yuan).

"so I started driving the Bolt EUV a few weeks ago. I like it very much," Barra said.

Then the host asked: so why did you stop producing it? Barra replied: "because it is our second-generation model, and the third-generation Ultium platform reduces battery costs by about 40 per cent."

According to EPA, the EPA of the retiring Chevrolet Bolt EV has an estimated range of 259 miles, while the slightly larger Bolt EUV can travel up to 247 miles on a single charge. According to Kelly Blue Book (Kelley Blue Book), these two compact cars are also the cheapest electric vehicles to buy in five years, so it is believed that the starting price of the new car will be less than $30,000.
