Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, June 19 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- EVE, an electric aircraft manufacturer controlled by Embraer, announced today that it will integrate EVE's upcoming "flying vehicle" (electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle, or eVTOL) into the European route network of short-haul flight platform Blade Air Mobility, starting in France.
▲ Touyuan EVE website EVE and Blade said in a statement that under the new memorandum of understanding, Blade will focus on developing practical applications for electric aircraft, including determining future routes for France and other European countries. EVE had expected its "flying car" to start commercial operation in 2026.
The two sides did not say whether the deal would involve Blade buying a new eVTOL. Blade's current operations in Europe include short flights using traditional helicopters between Nice, France and Monaco.
CTOnews.com had previously reported that EVE and Blade agreed last year to deploy up to 200 electric aircraft in India after signing a letter of intent to operate in the US, where EVE expects to supply up to 60 electric aircraft a year.
Rob Wisesenthal, CEO of Blade, said: "the expansion of the partnership with EVE highlights Blade's commitment to leading the transition from traditional aircraft to electric vertical aircraft."
EVE has a backlog of nearly 2800 orders but has not yet begun mass production after it received support from investors such as United Airlines and Rolls-Royce. EVE recently announced the first equipment suppliers for its eVTOL and is expected to begin construction of its first full-size prototype in the second half of this year.
