CTOnews.com, June 27 (Xinhua)-- Meta, the parent company of Facebook, will provide "parental control" mode for its chat tool Messenger. Meta said it was "just the first batch of parental monitoring tools" and plans to launch more of its kind next year.

Currently, the feature is only available to users in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and will be rolled out to the rest of the world in the coming months.

When a child reports someone to the Meta, parents will be notified with the child's express permission.

CTOnews.com noted that Facebook has a Messenger Kids for children, but the above feature is aimed at the Messenger main program, which is expected to be available to 13-to 18-year-olds.
